Intrinsic Branch: Domestic Security

As the military may never be mobilized against the Citizens or be used as a policing force within the borders of the Liminal State, these tasks fall under the Domestic Security Branch, which would include departments like the FBI.

At a high level, the Domestic Security Branch is charged with protecting the Citizens at home, and by extension the entire Liminal State. It has wide-ranging responsibilities, from protecting the Citizens from acts of terrorism and fraud, to ensuring Government Workers are protected in their jobs while not abusing their positions. To do all these things, the Domestic Security Branch works closely with its Lateral Branches to do this work.

For example, the Domestic Security Branch is charged with protecting the security of the internet used by the Citizens, the government intranet, all voting technology, and any hardware or software used to support these efforts, all while ensuring personal data and free speech is protected. The Domestic Security Branch works closely with the Infrastructure and and Progress Lateral Branches to ensure this security.

Additionally, the Domestic Security Branch will rely on the Environment Lateral Branch to be on the forefront of natural disaster forecasting and to be the first responders in times of natural disasters. This Branch work closely with vertical government agencies to ensure the Citizens affected are alerted to potential dangers and receive immediate help in times of emergencies.
