Intrinsic Branch: Domestic Security

As the military may never be mobilized against the citizens or be used as a policing force within the borders of the state, these tasks fall under the Domestic Security Branch and would include departments like the FBI.

At a high level, the Domestic Security Branch has wide-ranging responsibilities, from protecting the citizens from terrorists and environmental disasters, to their individual health and wellbeing. To do all these things, the Domestic Security Branch will coordinate closely with the lateral branches of all primary branches to do this work.

For example, this branch would work with the International Affairs and Progress lateral branches to protect the integrity of the citizen’s private information from being compromised by foreign governments, and will be on the cutting edge of digital technology and cybersecurity, to ensure that each piece of tech that is responsible for the functioning of the internet within the nation is safe for citizens, businesses, and governmental purposes. This priority comes from the understanding that the infrastructure of the nation must be safe from any outside and unauthorized access or tampering.

In addition, the Domestic Security Branch would work with the Judicial and Special Projects lateral branches to build the systems that makes end-to-end communication and virtual voting distributed and secure for use throughout the government, and will ensure that those systems are not vulnerable through the people using these systems.

Finally, the Domestic Security Branch will rely heavily on the Environmental Branch and be on the forefront of natural disaster forecasting and be the first responders in times of those natural disasters. This branch work closely with vertical government agencies to ensure the citizens affected are alerted to potential dangers and receive immediate help in times of emergencies.
