Branch Officials
Every Branch will be led by three Branch Officials, each serving 12 year terms, staggered every four years. The Branch operations are guided by the decisions made via a majority vote among these three Branch Officials.
Qualifications
A candidate wishing to become one of the three Branch Officials must have served for a minimum of eight years within that Branch at the time of the election, be 52 years old or younger at the time of the election, be an Eligible Voter and passed the Empathy Test, and wish to become a candidate for the role.
Elections
The Branch Officials are not appointed by an executive, but are instead elected into those positions by the Branch Members themselves.
Proportional-Rank Choice Voting will be used to determine the qualified candidate moving into the vacant spot from the pool of eligible candidates, and these elections every four years are also the opportunity to grade and impeach the existing Branch Officials.
Alternate
In an election year, the runner up in the Proportional-Rank Choice Voting will serve as the Alternate. This Alternate will shadow the three Branch Officials so as to be ready to step into the role should one of the Branch Officials be removed within the four years prior to the next Branch Election. They may provide assistance to the Branch Officials as requested, but they will not vote, communicate, negotiate, or otherwise provide work exclusively reserved for the Branch Officials.
With the next election, the new runner up from the pool of willing and able candidates will become the new Alternate.
Exclusions
No Branch Official will be eligible for that same position within their Branch again. They are eligible for any other role within that Branch and any role in the Liminal State outside that Branch, including as a member of the Executive Group. An Alternative may only serve as an Alternate for the same Branch once. They may serve subsequently as a Branch Official, Executive Group member, or in any other position within their Branch or any position in any other Branch.
Should the Alternate need to step into the role of the Branch Official, then they will be restricted in future positions by all the rules applicable to the Alternate and the Branch Officials. Additionally, an Alternate replacing a Branch Official will serve the remainder of the term of the official they are replacing, but will be considered the junior member.
